100 days before the launch of Visit Malaysia 2007

In many ways, many Malaysians are pretty excited to promote their country for the year 2007, but for many other merchants, they’d be excited and panic at the same time because the estimation of number of tourists coming to visit in 100 days time.
What are you going to expect in 100 days time? I will post here the first two months of the events in 2007

1 January 2007
- Official Grand Launch 2007 – in Kuala Lumpur
Join us as we unveil the visit Malaysia Year 2007 celebration with a grand launch. Locals and foreigners alike will have a taste of what Malaysia has to offer in 2007.
- The Official Launch of “Eyes on Malaysia” – in Kuala Lumpur
Experience a breathtaking 360 degree panoramic view of the Kuala Lumpur city! This unforgettable 30-minute ride reaches a height of 60 metres and offers a magnificent view of over 20km of the city. This will last until 31 December 2007.

- Floral Fest - Floral Parade – in Putrajaya & Klang Valley
Experience the splendour of flowers as you see beautifully decorated floats adorned with brightly coloured blooms. Be enthralled by the riot of colours and profusion of flowers on display. Cultural performances will keep visitors entertained. This will last until 4 February 2007.

- Celebration of Federal Territory Day – in Kuala Lumpur, Puterajaya and Labuan
Be part of Federal Territory Day celebrations in Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya. Exciting parades, firework display, exhibitions and cultural shows accompany the celebrations.

- Le Tour De Langkawi – in Langkawi
The exciting annual Le Tour De Langkawi is here again! This is a cycling spectacle not to be missed. Asia's version of "Le Tour De France", the Le Tour de Langkawi promises to be an action-packed as the world's finest riders traverse spectacular and treacherous terrain from the idyllic island of Langkawi to Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. This is the time you will see every Malaysians curious about the event and we will all know when to avoid the roads during the day of the competition. This will last until 11 February 2007.

- Thaipusam Festival – in Batu Caves, Selangor
This is an annual penance and thanksgiving event by Hindu devotees held in honour of Lord Subramaniam. The festival is best experienced in Kuala Lumpur where the deity's jewelled chariot is led in a mass procession through the streets of the city, culminating at the Batu Caves in Selangor. An unforgettable sight is the thousands of devotees in a trance-like state carrying body-piercing Kavadis or ornate frames.
If you can have enough strength to get up to the Batu Caves temple, be sure to go there and have a look!

- Chinese New Year Festival Celebration – Throughout Malaysia
Drums, gongs and cymbals clang and clash in accompaniment to lion and dragon dances, as the Chinese New Year is ushered in. The official public holiday is only 2 days, but this huge festival is celebrated over a 15-day period. On the eve of Chinese New Year, family members hold reunion dinners followed by 'open house' for relatives and friends.
This is an exciting time to be in Malaysia as visitors are sure to come upon lion and dragon dance performances in public venues. The abundance of mandarin oranges and stalks of plum blossom, believed to bring prosperity and good luck, add to the festive air.
If you would like to get some really nice stuffs be sure to be ready for the festive sales about 2 weeks before the celebration. But you should be able to the red decorations starting to pop out all over the place after Christmas or the New Years.
