Contribute for our Ocean
June 6th 2007 02:53
We all know that 70% of our earth's surface is the ocean, and sometimes, we'd think, ah, it's such a big space, a little piece of waste paper won't hurt.
So does an empty can of soda, a plastic bag, a bag of garbage... and the list goes on and on.
Imagine when they all sums up, what will happen? Our ocean's covered with our waste.
Is it our problem? Yes! Because we are the cause of the pollution, no matter how big or small it is.
WWF Malaysia is starting the Sulu-Sulawesi Marine Ecoregion (SSME) programme to help stoping our ocean walking to dealth's path. We are talking about nearly 1 million square kilometres of ocean in the Indo-West Pacific that includes portions of Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines.
It is home to more than 500 species of coral, 1200 species of reef fish, 33 species of mangroves, 22 species of whales and dolphins and 5 of the world¡¯s 7 remaining species of sea turtles. The world famous whale shark and dugong also call these waters home.
Their success depends on our support
There are 35 million people dependant on these seas for their living. For the SSME programme to succeed in a big way, the mindsets of these people have to be changed. First, these people have to be reached. They have to be educated. Then, they have to be convinced. And finally, they have to be motivated to act.
At this point WW Malaysia honestly doesn't have enough resources to do all this and they need our help. Please help them save our oceans before it is too late.

You are surrounded by such great advertisements.
The photograph is sublime, no I don't drop garbage around, but our authorities do.
Some people are just so lazy they just leave their rubbish right next to them then get up and go and often it's just a few more steps and they could dispose of it properly.
I'd rather take mine home than do that, but generally one can find a garbage tin fairly handy.
Sorry if I miss you under the line, it's a problem really, do work on getting your karma up to 10, you're so close.

Thank you so much for your comments. It is so true that people are just too lazy to pick up their own dirt, no it is an individual, a family or even the organisation or government body.
(I am talking about garbage waste)
That is why that we all must continue to educate the younger generations, keep them awared that we are blessed a beautiful earth and not taking it for granted.
We may see them when we were young, but we cannot guarantee that we will see the same beauty years later.
Boy I missed the days where coconut trees were everywhere and the road hardly filled with rubbish (even they do it's all piled up in one area) and you can still see king fisher everywhere.
Thank you so much for dropping by and your contribution.
I sometimes missed those which are below 10 and I usually look for 1 vote and above and if I see post that are lower than 10 I will just click the vote to boost them up.
Your pressence is most cherished. ^_^
Have a blessed day
